www.StructuredRetailProducts.com is the leading online information source for the global structured products market. Launched in 2003, the website details over one million structured products from Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific offered since 1995 and has many thousands of subscribers globally. Our specialist news service covers structured products news from around the world, whilst our monthly online publication, www.SRPMagazine.com provides a snapshot of the previous monthâ??s new and sales volume data together with in-depth features and interviews with key players in the industry.

Our definition of a structured product is an investment product that provides a pre-defined return linked to one or more underlying financial prices, rates or indices. The product can usually be broken down into a number of separate financial instruments, one of which is a derivative product. In other cases it uses a derivative-based investment strategy to provide the return. We specifically exclude simple warrants, listed options and futures, and â??delta oneâ? products such as tracker funds and exchange traded funds. Products we list on our database include, but are not limited to, option-based structured products providing capital protection, portfolio insurance products (CPPI / VPPI), variable annuities, "flow & others" products (bonus / discount certificates etc), leverage products (turbos etc) and callable/putable products.

The data is organised by country. For each country database, we aim to include a full dataset of all of the structured products that are sold in that country to retail investors, irrespective of the wrapper, the asset class of the underlying, the country of listing / origination or the provider type. We also cover non-retail products (private banking or institutional products) where we are able to obtain this data. Products are never removed from the databases even when they have matured and they are generally listed under the company name that markets the product. Each database is fully searchable, with the product view page containing details such as the provider of the product, a short description (in both English and the local language), important dates, the underlying, wrapper, payoff, etc and with the original documentation attached which can be downloaded. The Analysis and Reports section provides an overview of each country and region through an analysis of issuance and sales trends over time and online reports which cover providers, underlyings, wrappers, capital protection, etc.

· News Search

To select or deselect multiple items, click on each item holding down 'Ctrl' key. To select a range of items at once hold down 'Shift' key.

You can search for a single word, such as ‘growth’ by typing it into the keyword box. You can search for a specific sentence by typing a full phrase in the keyword box.

You can choose a time period by entering the start date of your search in the box ‘Period from’ and the end date in the box ‘Period to’. If you leave ‘Period from’ empty, the search will return the results up to the ‘Period to’ date. · Current Offers
The Current Offers section provides a list of all the products that are currently open for investment.

You may sort and filter this list using the menu bar above the list. The default is sorted by the nearest offer to close at the top. However you may also sort alphabetically or by product score (if you have scored any products).

You can also filter products by wrapper and type. So for example, to see only the ISA products that pay an income, select ISA from the Wrapper box and Income from the Type box.

Individual products can be viewed by clicking on the "View" link. The product information displayed on this page is more detailed and includes contact information and downloadable brochures, application forms, etc where available.

· Continuous Product
The Continuous Product section provides a list of all the non-tranche products, that is products that are continuously available with no fixed subscription period and/or no fixed maturity date.

You may sort and filter this list using the menu bar above the list. The default is sorted alphabetically however you may reverse the order by using the sort box provided.

You can also filter products by wrapper. So for example, to see only the ISA products, select ISA from the Wrapper box.

Individual products can be viewed by clicking on the "View" link. The product information displayed on this page is more detailed and includes contact information and downloadable brochures, application forms, etc where available.

· Leverage Products
Leverage products provide leveraged exposure to the underlying asset (with small capital outlay investors can gain more exposure to the market). Classic leveraged products include warrants whilst structured leveraged products include for example Turbos. Investing in leveraged products often entails the risk of loss of the entire invested capital i.e. typically there is no principal protection with these products. However, leveraged products provide potential yield enhancement through higher targeted return.

Leverage (or gearing) is the use of given resources in such a way that the potential positive or negative outcome is magnified and/or enhanced. It generally refers to using borrowed funds, or debt, so as to seek to increase the return.

· Recent Additions
This page shows products added to the database in the previous two months.

Individual products can be viewed by clicking on the "View" link. The product information displayed on this page is more detailed and includes contact information and downloadable brochures, application forms, etc where available.

· Maturing Products

· Jargon
The Jargon section provides access to over 100 terms used in the structured products market with explanations. The explanations may cross-refer to other words in the Jargon and if so these words are clickable in the explanation.

If you come across any other words that you would like us to add then please contact us.

· Search Database
This sophisticated search tool allows users to run detailed searches of the entire product database for each country.

To use this search follow the instructions below:

To search the database begin by selecting the required country. Then select your time period. This can either be the entire database or only products with a Strike Date and/or a Maturity Date that fall within a specified time period. The earliest and latest dates are shown

Next select the product Providers or Provider Groups that you are interested in. The default setting, with no specific Provider Groups or Providers selected, will search amongst all Provider Groups and all Providers. Alternatively you can search amongst either one or more specific Provider Groups OR one or more specific product Providers by making single or multiple selections in the relevant boxes (use the control key to make multiple selections).

You CANNOT select both specific Provider Groups and specific product Providers.

Finally select the product characteristics that you are interested in. You can make single or multiple selections in each criteria using the control key or leave them blank. Use the reset button at the bottom of the page to return to the default search settings.

· Analysis & Reports
This Analysis and Reports section provides access to high level information on the products held in the database as well as the facility to run pre-specified reports that provide more detailed information on specific providers or products issued over a selected time period.

The high level information includes the volume of sales for products launched on an annual basis split by product type. The reports include information on numbers of products launched by provider, provider type, wrapper, etc.

· Add a New Product
This section provides a facility for product providers to add their product directly to the database.

· Edit a Product
This section provides a facility for product providers to edit one or more of their products directly on the database.

· Portfolios
This facility allows users to set up portfolios of products that are on the database. Email alerts can then be set up to monitor maturing products.

To create a portfolio, follow the instructions in the "Create" section. Once the portfolio has been created it can be viewed, edited and deleted using the appropriate sections.

Note that you cannot create two portfolios with the same name.

The email alerts option allows users to set up an alert on a portfolio so that whenever any of the products within it are approaching maturity an email will be sent informing users of this. The user may select the warning period, from 7 days to 2 months ahead.

· The Portfolio Bar
A portfolio menu bar appears at the top of the page whenever you view the details of any product anywhere on the site. This will allow new products to be added to portfolios more easily.

· Product Scoring
This feature allows users to create a set of preferences, in other words favourite product characteristics, and then use this to score products on the basis of how closely they match these favourite characteristics.

It is important to note that the scores displayed therefore are based on the users own preferences and in no way represent the views or opinions of Arete Consulting Limited.

To use this feature follow the instructions provided. If you experience difficulty then the following points may be of help:

  • Product features that are not given a score will be scored at zero.
  • Do not save two preference sets with the same name.
  • There are currently five product features that can be scored: Provider, Maturity, Underlying, Payoff Type and Minimum Return. Users do not have to score all features.
  • The maximum score that any product can have for any feature is 20. The actual score displayed is a percentage up to a maximum of 100%. So for example if only two features are scored, the maximum score any product can have is 40. A product that scores 30 will have a displayed score of 75%.
  • If you have multiple preference sets then you can change to a different active set using the list box on the left hand menu.
  • The active preference set is the one used by default if you click on a "Score this product" link at the top of any product detail page.
  • The site may display scores from different preference sets at the same time (i.e. the site will not delete old scores when a new preference set is made active). The preference set used to produce the score however is clearly displayed.
  • If you sort the Current Offers page by "score" be careful to ensure that all the products have been scored with the same preference set. Use the "reset product scores" option if you want to be sure that all the scores are based on the same preference set.
· Product Filter Box
In order to assist users in utilising our service we have created a separate section for "flow & others" products. The purpose is to allow the user to differentiate highly standardised and regularly issued products from the more bespoke issuance. The system will remember the user selection, i.e. which boxes have been ticked and which are left unticked, after each visit to a database. The following products are currently classified as "flow & others" products:

Germany
Discount, Sprint, Bonus and other type of highly-standardised investment certificates, usually traded on the Stuttgart stock Exchange.

Switzerland
Standardised investment certificates issued by providers primarily for the German market, but also distributed in Switzerland. Non-flow products will therefore mostly include the products only targeted at Swiss investors, as well as non-standardised German products also distributed in Switzerland.

Austria
Standardised investment certificates issued by providers primarily for the German market, but also distributed in Austria. Non-flow products will therefore mostly include the products only targeted at Austrian investors, as well as non-standardised German products also distributed in Austria.

France
Mainly Euronext-traded investment certificates, known locally as "Produits de Bourse".

Italy, Spain
Callable-only or Putable-only products.

Malaysia, Australia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan
Monthly issuance of standardised products, usually FX-rate dual currency or interest-rate based products.
