Index roundup: DFM and Nasdaq to launch futures on DFM General Index
Dubai Financial Market and Nasdaq Dubai have signed a licence agreement under which futures contracts linked with the DFM General Index will be traded on the exchange's equity futures market. The index tracks a basket of DFM-listed companies, providing exposure to UAE property, banking, telecoms, insurance and transport. The index was at 3660 points on November 28. The exchange will issue futures and they will be traded on a market it launched in September 2016. In April 2017, the European Securities and Markets Authority recognised Nasdaq Dubai as a third-country central counterparty under European Union regulations. Subject to regulatory approval, trading of the futures is expected to begin later this year.
