SRP expands coverage to Israel

SRP today expanded its coverage to the Middle East with the launch of a database covering the Israeli market as part of its continued expansion in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, bringing the site's coverage to 20 countries in EMEA region.

"I am delighted to be able to add Israel to the list of our databases in the EMEA region as it is a significant market and essential to our coverage of the region," said SRP MD Jan Scibor-Kaminski. "This database kicks off our coverage of the Middle Eastern countries, and will prove very useful in seeking out new business opportunities, both locally and internationally."

The Israeli market database opens with 1091 products going back as far as 2002 for an estimated volume of ILS46.8bn ($12.4bn), and is fully searchable, including downloadable product documentation and marketing literature. There are eleven active group issuers in the market with First International (35%), Leumi group (27%) and Bank Hapoalim (23%) taking the lion's share among domestic providers. There are no registered foreign providers in the Israeli retail market.

The most popular domestic wrapper in Israel is the structured deposit (97% share) with the remaining 3% going to medium-term notes; payoff types are led by the uncapped call (44% of the issuance) followed by shark fin structures (44%) and then a number of less frequent structures including callables, bull-bears, range and digitals. The most utilised underlying in the Israeli market is the shekel/dollar exchange rate (10%); followed by the domestic Tel Aviv 25 (7%) and the S&P500 (5%).

As with previous database launches, SRP will continue to complete the coverage with the addition of older products as we find them, while ensuring the current offers list remains as comprehensive and up-to-date as possible.
