Basque bank Banco Guipuzcoano is marketing a range of 'grand coach' structured products, which uses football strategies to explain investments with different risk-reward profiles.

An aggressive Jogo Bonito (beautiful game) strategy is BG CVO Deutsche Telekom I, a two-year reverse convertible note linked to the Deustche Bank share, paying 15% (gross) on maturity. It offers 80% soft protection.

A 95%-protected Counterattack BG CCVO IV is a three-year deposit linked to a basket of international shares (Bayer, France Telecom, Vodafone and ENI). This digital/podium structure will allocate a 12%, 8% or 4% return for each year depending on the basket performance. At maturity, the product returns capital alongside the sum of any coupons paid, otherwise the product guarantees 95% capital return.

The defensive Catenaccio Depósito BG Selección 5 is a four-year knockout deposit linked to another basket of shares (France Telecom, Deutsche Telekom, AT&T and Santander). The product matures early paying out a 5% gross return for each year elapsed if the underlying basket is at or above its strike level.

Banco Guipuzcoano recently closed another sport themed offer, Depósito Mejor Piloto, linked to the formula one championships. The three-year capital-guaranteed structure is linked to the performance of formula one drivers including Button, Rosberg, Alonso, Hamilton, Vettel, Massa, Webber and Schumacher. It has a digital/putable payoff profile and will pay out a 2%, 3% and 4% AER coupon respectively for each year of investment.

In addition, if the chosen driver wins the 2010 championship, an extra 0.5% (annualised) coupon is awarded.

Both products will be available for subscription until 28 October. Minimum investment is €3,000.

These products are available in Recent Additions (Spain).
