Santander UK has added the management of Cater Allen Bank to Miguel Sard's existing responsibilities as managing director of Abbey for Intermediaries (AFI), in a move to consolidate its coverage of the advisory market in the UK.
"The intermediary channel is strategically very important to Santander and is a key channel for our business, said Sard. "We have made it clear that going forward we want to distribute more products through intermediaries, putting the customer and the distribution channel at the very heart of the relationship, and bringing our two intermediary brands together under the same management supports this goal."
With the addition of Cater Allen Bank's portfolio of responsibilities, Sard will now supervise the bank's suite of products which includes savings accounts, fixed term deposits, structured deposits and current accounts.
Sard became managing director for AFI in May 2011. Prior to that, he was chief executive of Santander Insurance UK.
