Raiffeisen Centrobank (RCB), one of the main issuers of certificates in Austria, has updated its product range repeatedly this year.

The current update focuses on bonus certificates and barrier reverse convertibles (BRC).

RCB insists updating its product ranges is one of the key elements to meet investor’s needs and to stay competitive in the Austrian, German and the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) markets.

“We continuously try to issue new products to be able to offer our clients the broadest possible product line,” said Stefan Neubauer, head of structured products sales for CEE, at RCB.

Diversity
RCB’s product range for the first half of 2014 was more diverse with also capital-protected certificates, reverse convertibles, discount certificates and leverage products included in the investment certificates on offer to retail investors.

The bonus certificates and BRC certificates are currently popular with retail investors according to Neubauer as they pay-out attractive yields while the risk is reduced. “The product range will stay well-balanced with the focus remaining on risk-optimised certificates, also in future,” he said.

Underlyings
The limited product range aside, RCB has also changed the scope of the underlyings it offers to its clients.

An additional focus now lies with stocks of German companies, such as Deutsche Post, Siemens and Volkswagen. However, the Eurostoxx50 index remains a firm favourite.

CEE countries
RCB, the equity house of Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI), is the pioneer in certificates issuance in Austria and the CEE.

The bank has a strong presence in the CEE countries, distributing its products via the RBI branches as public offers in Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Croatia, Slovenia and Romania.

RCB lists products on seven exchanges including Vienna, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Prague, Warsaw, Budapest and Bucharest with products denominated in local currencies such as the Czech koruna, euro, Hungarian forint and Polish zloty.
