ING Funds in Malaysia is offering local clients Annual Income Climate Structured Fund, an Australian dollar-denominated investment.

The three-year capital protected Shariah-compliant fund offers full capital protection, a 5% annual coupon plus growth based on the outperformance of the Citi Climate Change Opportunities Index over the S&P500, DJEurostoxx50, FTSE100 and Nikkei 225.The fund was designed in response to findings from the quarterly ING Investor Dashboard survey, a quartlerly measure of investor sentiment and the behaviour of mass affluent investors from Asia Pacific markets including China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

The survey found that around 49% of Malaysian investors are looking at Shariah-compliant investments and that 84% of investors prefer to invest in funds that deliver consistent average returns.

“The Citi Climate Change Opportunities Index allows investors to gain exposure to innovative companies that are focused on bringing alternative technologies, products and services that will benefit from the growth and demand created by actual global climatic changes. Investors will be gaining access to companies in various sectors, industries and markets across the globe that will provide them with added geographical and sectoral diversification, while investing in a Shariah-based fund,” said ING Funds CEO Steve Ong.

The fund has an entry fee of 1.5% and a management fee of 1% pa. Minimum initial investment is MYR5,000 (US$1,500). The ING Annual Income Climate Fund is distributed by ING Funds Advisers and other authorised third parties.
