Swiss bank UBS has promoted its head of emerging European equities, Tulga Cordan, to a newly-created position as a coordinator between structured products and equity capital markets in Europe and the US.

Cordan will act as a liaison between the bank's risk management products (RMP) group, which houses its structured products, and equity capital markets. According to a UBS spokesperson, the bank sent clients a memo stating Cordan's promotion was a response to the growing importance of corporate financing for its franchise customers.

Cordan will sit on UBS's loan review group and liaise with equity capital markets. Additional responsibilities will include sitting on the equity global client committee and assisting the capital commitment team.

Prior to the promotion, Cordan held a number of roles, during the last eight years, in specialist sales and sales trading. Cordan joined UBS from ABN Amro in 2001, where he had been an equity analyst.

UBS could not confirm Cordan's successor as head of emerging European equities as SRP went to press.
