Sales of structured products in South Korea surpassed KRW7 trillion (US$4.86 billion) in January, up 55% compared to the prior year’s same period, SRP data shows. Equity-linked securities (ELS), also known as capital-at-risk autocallable notes, recorded KRW2.3 trillion in sales, up 82% year-on-year (YoY). Equity-linked bonds (ELBs), used to deliver principal-protected exposure often featuring a digital payoff, accounted for the largest sales amount, doubling year-on-year to KRW2.6
