The UK non-banking issuer is targeting expansion of coverage to the country’s private banks, wealth managers and independent financial advisors.

Marex Group has received approval under its existing Australian Financial Services License (AFSL) to offer structured investment products and solutions to Australian clients.

The license, granted by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, allows Marex Financial Products to offer bespoke investment solutions to wholesale clients, according to a company announcement on Wednesday (6 May). 

The UK firm said it plans to target private banks, wealth managers, and independent financial advisors across the country in the first phase of its coverage expansion. This adds to its existing presence in the market, including over-the-counter hedging and energy capabilities for Australian clients, it stated.

“We have seen healthy volumes so far this year,” Franck Fayard (pictured), Marex Financial Products' head of financial products for Asia Pacific (Apac), told SRP when speaking of the firm's Apac activities, without elaborating. Fayard, who joined in May 2023 to expand the region's coverage, declined to comment on whether the firm has booked its structured product trades within the Apac booking centre.

The latest development followed Marex Financial Products becoming a futures clearing and trading participant of the Australian Securities Exchange in 2023. The company announced the opening of its Australian office in December 2021 and plans to provide OTC derivative products hedging services for local clients.

At a group level, Marex Group expanded its hedging solutions business in December 2025 with its first hire in Hong Kong SAR, appointing Joseph Jiang as vice president, commodity sales, following headcount expansions for the unit in Singapore, Brisbane, and Auckland.

Marex Group’s Apac revenue rose nine percent to US$176m in 2025, its annual report showed.
