Long overlooked in commodity allocations, electricity is moving into focus with the launch of MWHS, an exchange-traded fund (ETF) with direct exposure to US wholesale power prices.
Exchange Traded Concepts (ETC) and Skylar Capital Management have launched the Skylar Electricity Futures ETF (MWHS) on NYSE Arca, giving investors direct exposure to wholesale US electricity prices through futures contracts tied to major power markets. The fund invests in ICE electricity futures contracts linked to the PJM and ERCOT markets These markets include including Texas wholesale electricity market (ERCOT) and Multi-state eastern US wholesale electricity market (PJM). The fund
