The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) this week removed a ban imposed on Société Générale (SG), from issuing or dealing in new offshore derivative instruments (ODIs). The ban was imposed in January this year after SG was found to have misreported details of some ODIs, which are used by overseas investors for an exposure to Indian equities or equity derivatives. The French bank sold p­articipatory notes to UK-based Hythe Securities between January 2006 and January 2008, which were t
