Birmingham Midshires is aiming to answer its customers' concerns about inflation with its first structured product in more than a year. The capital-protected Inflation Rate Bond Issue 1 pays the most recent January's RPI plus 0.25% annually over five years.
"Our customers have told us they are concerned about the effect inflation is having on their savings pots," said head of savings John Bianco. The Hbos subsidiary said it had been absent from the structured products market because it had spent the last year 'looking at other investment strategies'.
