Spanish savings bank Caixa Catalunya is set to raise more than €80m for Deposito Mundial 2010, a structured deposit linked to a basket of shares from companies sponsoring this summer's football World Cup.

"The product launched with an €80m sales target, but we have now received notification that the original volume was reached and that [the target] has been increased," said a Caixa Catalunya spokesperson, who did not wish to estimate the final volume. "It looks likely we will cover the extended volume by mid next week just before the end of the offer period," she said.

Depósito Mundial 2010 is a 2.5-year investment linked to a basket of equity shares comprising Adidas, Coca-Cola, McDonalds, Sony and Hyundai Motor Company. This capital-protected growth product is based on a podium strategy and will register 0.5% growth for each month in which all the stocks in the basket are above their initial levels, offering a potential payout at maturity of 15% (5.74% AER).

This product will be available until 31 May. Minimum investment is €1,000.

Banc Sabadell, Banesto and Basque bank Banco Guipuzcoano have also launched World Cup-themed products for Spanish investors.

This product is available now in Recent Additions (Spain).
