DWS Scudder, a division of Deutsche Asset Management Americas, has announced the hiring of a trio dedicated to bringing ‘innovative investment solutions’ to the local asset management market, including a strategic push into structured products.“The market for structured products in the US holds great potential and lends itself to our firm's strength as a global leader in developing innovative investment solutions,” said the firm in a release.
Christopher Warren, the former head of private investor products for ABN Amro’s North America, becomes head of structured products for the US. He has more than seven years structured products experience and has held posts at Goldman, Sachs, General Re Financial Products and Bankers Trust.
Jason Hubschman, who will work alongside Warren, also hails from the same ABN Amro unit, where he was VP of structuring and transaction management. Previously, he was an associate attorney at Weil, Gotshal & Manges.
“Christopher and Jason have joined the DWS Scudder product management team as part of a strategic initiative to develop our structured product business,” said the firm.
Overseeing progress will be head of product development and management Douglas Beck, who will be responsible for DWS Scudder’s product management activities. Beck joins from UBS Global Asset Management, where he was executive director for product management and president of the UBS Mutual Fund family. Beck has more than 16 years of experience in the asset management industry, including posts at Merrill Lynch and Raymond James.
The asset management arm of another European investment bank also recently announced a strategic move into derivatives-based and structured products. Credit Suisse used its most recent results to announce the strategy shift for Credit Suisse Asset Management in the US: “Going forward, the US business will focus on growth areas such as enhanced index, quantitative strategies and structured products, as well as on its current strengths, including alternative investments and core competencies in other equity and fixed income strategies,” it said.
