Open-ended structured funds that use call overwriting payoffs are becoming increasingly popular with Japanese investors.

There were 96 structured products (including flow, but excluding leverage and private banking) worth an estimated JPY231 billion ($2.2 billion) added to the SRP Japan database during September. One-hundred and six products , which collected JPY227 billion in sales volumes, struck last month. Year-to-date, product issuance has been relatively stable compared to 2019 while sales volumes have increased 11% in 2020. There were 102 products that matured in September.
